Elijah Levy, Ph.D.

Welcome to The Levy Launch where you can satiate your ongoing, self-directed and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge and wisdom for personal or professional development.  At The Launch, we believe that learning is not confined to an academic environment or classroom, but through exposure to intellectually stimulating material during the lifespan.   So if you’re motivated to initiate this self-directed pursuit of knowledge, this site contains material on a wide breadth of subjects such as creative aging (searching for more in the second half of life), cultural pluralism, comparative religion, health and wellness, cultural literacy, career development and much more. If you spend time navigating this site, you'll discover endless opportunities to enrich your mighty life through immersing yourself with our material.  Exposing yourself to this material and integrating knowledge, which is actually called technology will likely enrich and enhance the quality of your life.  The fundamental principle we operate with is that delaying action or the self-initiated, voluntary learning process will diminish the quality of your life.  Research has demonstrated that ongoing learning beyond the traditional classroom, especially in later adulthood generates meaning and purpose in life, which invariably increases our quality of life.

At The Launch, we treat the reading material you're ingesting as your tool kit.  Initiating a launch without the essential tools in your kit is useless. So, now that you've decided to activate this learning process, we believe you're initiating a process of self-discovery that might reveal desires and interests left dormant in you for years. Exposure to the greatest writers and poets of the world or strategies to lead more healthy and purpose driven lives will undoubtedly result in added fulfillment and discovery of new leisure skills.

Remember, if you continue to delay your launch it will invariably hurt the quality of your life.  We know that standing on the launch pad without a took kit will only erode your self-image, confidence and self-esteem. You can't stand on the launch pad for years, then suddenly push the launch button and expect to launch.  It's likely the fuel in your tank has evaporated after several years, and even if you've got tools in your kit, they will be obsolete years later.  Finally, the path to your launch destination may change due to detours resulting from highway reconstruction and road modifications.  In the end, you'll have missed the opportunity to launch and discover more about you.

The Levy Launch is Available for Business/Management Consultation

In addition to fulfilling your need for intellectual stimulation, The Levy Launch provides consultation to organizations interested in launching their business initiatives to improve organizational performance. The only way to achieve genuine, enduring and desired change is to launch your creative ideas.  We're available to listen to your proposals for transforming your organization into a prosperous, prideful company. Unless you act on your ideas to maximize organizational performance, your employees and organization will continue to operate at the just good enough level and the gap between current and optimal performance will widen.  We offer a free, no pressure consultation to fill your tank with powerful jet fuel so you can arrive at your launch destination.

Arbie Tolentino and Dr. Levy at Anaheim White House Fundraiser

The Levy Launch is a center providing organizations with management and strategy consultation to improve organizational performance through systematic analysis of existing organizational processes and developing specific plans for improvement.  We understand the multidisciplinary nature of organizational behavior and how it reflects employee attitudes, values, capabilities and their learning capacities.  For your organization to function optimally, management is tasked with creating outstanding work teams and departments that can effectively respond to your customer's varied needs in domestic and global markets.  Managers must be skilled at coordinating work efforts through designing structures that sustain stable relationships and processes.  The creation of meaningful structures enables organizations to become goal oriented and purposeful.  Ideally, uncertainty in performance and goal achievement is reduced when stable structures and processes guide how work is accomplished.  In addition, structural decisions will more likely reflect an organization's values and ethics.

Our team of consultants has over 70 years of combined experience, and we will initiate and guide change processes, design systems and structures to support and manage change and implement technology.  We offer corporate coaching, corporate training and corporate education.   Our team of consultants will attentively listen to challenges your organization is encountering and recommend interventions to improve performance.  Our goal is to transform your organization from its current functioning to optimal performance.  We are a team of four specialists committed to effectively listening to your needs and designing interventions to systematically transform operations.  We believe that developing systems to maximize effective communication, decision making and adopting practices that tap the full range of employee motivation will enhance performance and increase job satisfaction at all levels of the organization. The guiding principle we operate with is that organizations will achieve their organizational and performance goals to the extent that its structures capitalize on employee strengths, values, desires and expectations.

The center’s corporate development workshops include team building, leadership training and increasing managerial effectiveness.  In addition, we offer self-improvement workshops.  Organizations investing and making a commitment to offer their employees personal development workshops attract more qualified workers, improve morale, enhance job satisfaction, develop competencies and create inclusive work environments. In addition, corporations maximizing on opportunities to provide their employees with self-improvement workshops convey a sincere commitment to develop and empower their employees to achieve their fullest potential in their personal and career pursuits.

Associates of the Launch

Becky Foreman, B.S. Executive Coach, Strategy Consultant

I am a professional consultant with over twenty years of experience in executive management, coaching and development in both the corporate and nonprofit world. Throughout my diverse career (from my beginnings as a factory line worker to my most recent role as a CEO),  I have learned the importance of investing in the ongoing development of high-potential employees. This is what I do best. Drawing on my years of experience I have created a coaching model, which improves underdeveloped skills while also bringing forward hidden strengths and talents. My coaching benefits both employees, who receive the tools they need to excel, and employers, who enjoy the   rewards that come with a highly skilled, motivated and productive workforce.

Jon Gossard, MA, IT Consultant

Jon has nearly 20 years of experience in the information technology (IT) space.  During that span he has worked in a variety of fields including the health care industry, as a consultant to small- and mid-sized businesses, and in municipal government.  His skill set ranges from the hard technical skills required to administer complex computer networks to the soft skills required to communicate effectively with executive management.  Jon particularly enjoys working in a team environment to design solutions that leverage IT to bring true value to an organization.

Charlie Celano, Chief of Police, City of Tustin

Charlie is an executive level police manager with over 20 years experience in the law enforcement profession. He is currently the Chief of Tustin Police Department in Orange County CA.  Charlie received his Bachelor's degree in Occupational Studies from the California State University, Long Beach and his Master's in Business Management from the University of Redlands. He has extensive experience in Strategic Planning, Teambuilding, and teaching as an adjunct faculty member in Brandman University's online program where he has taught various Criminal Justice and Sociology classes, in addition todeveloping new courses for the Criminal Justice program. Charlie particularly enjoys teaching classes for law enforcement personnel on dealing with the mentally ill and with Dr. Levy has developed curriculum for law enforcement officers enrolled inthese workshops. This is truly the "tip of the spear "when it comes to practical police-related instruction on how to recognize mental illness, utilize effective communication tools, and reach a successful disposition of cases involving mentally ill persons.

Founders House of Hope is self publishing an anthology of poetry written by residents enrolled in the creative writing class.  The free verse poetry captures, in a sensitive yet evocative style the challenges of living with a mental illness, hope and how the indomitable will to overcome and embrace recovery engenders meaning and purpose in life. The anthology will be available in March, 2014.
